Edit dive site name

Post by nancy54cat »

I don’t know what has happened to my MacDive app. I can’t view a list of my dive sites. In fact nothing seems to be the way it was. The version I am on is 1.4.13.

Good day to you nancy54cat!

Because you said "app" I am going to assume that you are using the app on your iPhone, if you are using it on an iPad or Mac please let us know. I am using version 1.4.13 on my iPhone SE. When the app opens there is a button in the middle of the bottom of the screen that says sites and has the map pin symbol. When I touch that it takes me to the sites screen, defaulting to the map view. When I touch the three dots in the top right corner one of the options that comes up is "List: Browse sites as a list", when I touch that option it brings up the list of countries I have recorded dives in and lets me navigate through the list.

Is that what you were looking to find?

Have a great day and have fun diving (safely)!

Thank you for the reply. I was using the app on my iPad and I was ready to ditch the app BUT I tried it on my iPhone and it was a completely different experience. I deleted the app on my iPad and reinstalled it. That was the answer! Now I am back to enjoying the app on my iPad!
Because I am not a “techy” person, I need all the help I can get. I can now do everything I need to do easily.
FYI, you are the most reliable support person on this app and I really appreciate your presence. Again, thank you.

I am back again and once again can’t figure out this dive site editing because I don’t actually show on a map where I am located. I am in Mexico in Puerto Morelos but when I first entered all of my dive sites, I didn’t do a GPS entry (if that makes sense) so that when I click on the map, there is no list of dive sites available (also if that makes sense!!). Is there an alternate way to access a list of dive sites because, once again good old spell check changed my dive site name and I didn’t pick that up until I had accepted the name. Sorry for being so untech savvy but I am old!! Also, I am aType A personality so everything has to be perfect.

Hello again nancy54cat!

When you are looking at the map in the app do you see a gear and three dots in the top right corner of the screen? On my iPhone when I touch the three dots it brings up a menu with three options: New Site; List; or Visible.

When I touch the List option it displays a list of countries that have entered dive sites. Do you have the option to display the dive sites as a List, and when you use that option does it show you your dive sites?

Have a great day and have fun diving!

As always, thank you. I NEVER in a hundred years would have seen those icons until you pointed them out! But yes, that works beautifully. On my iPhone/iPad those icons are very very very faint. They seem to just fade into the dark background of the map. Is there a way to change the way that?
So that I don’t have to come back to you with the same question AGAIN, I have taken a screenshot of the map, circled the right hand corner and labelled it.
You are wonderful!

Hi nancy54cat!

You are welcome.

Yes, I also found those icons to be hard to see. I happened to have moved the map around a bit and happened to put those icons on Greenland where they showed up okay. Hopefully, if Nick is able to start working on the app again he can make those easier to see.

Have a great day and safe diving!
