Did you ever test the cable in DM4/DM5 ?
From the console log you attached the driver has been loaded. So typically I would be wondering if the cable is plugged in, or if it's plugged in via a USB hub (rather than directly), if it's faulty, etc. Testing with DM4/DM5 is useful to help rule these kinds of things out.

I tested the cable with DM4. The watch does not show up. It's directly plugged into my MBP, tried both USB ports. Sounds like I've got a faulty cable?

Indeed that would be my first thought if it does not work with the official software. Are you sure it's a Suunto cable, and not say a CustomIdea cable?
