Resequencing dive numbers?

This is a very small issue but here goes anyway.

I use my D6i when I'm teaching in the pool and as there is no "dive off" mode, unlike the old D6, the dives are recorded.
I then go to open water and do a few dives.
When I come back the dives all get loaded in as new dives but I never want to keep pool dives.

So, is there an easy way to delete a dive in the database, and then resequence the rest?

To be clear, suppose 56,57,58,59,60,61 & 62 are downloaded.
56 & 57 are pool dives so I delete them.

Is there an easy way to resequence 58-62 to become 56-60 without renumbering individually?

Alternative solution - take off the damn watch, yeah I know :)

Love Macdive - what a step up from Suunto's SDM and the abortion that is Movescount!!!!!

That works to start an import from a given number. Yes, I saw that but if I read correctly, that's only at the time of import.
What I want to do (or find a way of making this do) is deleting dives AFTER the import and its at that stage that my dive sequence has gaps.

Its at that point I want to renumber.

Maybe this does do that and I am missing something obvious?
Thanks

From that link:
If you want to change this, you can visit the gear screen and modify the starting number, then choose "Renumber", as illustrated below:
