Hi!!
I have a Mac OSX10.8.4 and was using MacDive all fine with my Ostc 2N. I did not download dives for some time and now tried again after updating to MacDive 2.2.3 but can not download dives anymore because the Mac "can not detect a valid Serial Port"

The problem is that I don't find the port if typing:
bash-3.2$ ls /dev/tty.*
/dev/tty.Bluetooth-Modem /dev/tty.Bluetooth-PDA-Sync

so I can not input a Serial Port in preferences. Help!!

Looks like you need to install the USB driver:

http://www.mac-dive.com/devices.php

In some cases, upgrading your OS X can remove the driver. Reinstall the FTDI driver linked from above and you'll be good to go.

Also, you may want to run the latest MacDive beta which resolves some OSTC specific data issues:

http://www.mac-dive.com/downloads/MacDive_Beta.zip

This has nothing to do with the serial port, though - for that follow the instructions above. I will be releasing this beta as the official version shortly.

but still don't know what I need to download, will yust thake the MacOS PPC processor option, whatever this is.

I have a OSTC2n and want to connect to my MacOSX 10.8.4 intel corei7

I'll follow the instructions for PPC and see.
Thanks!!

The link takes you directly to the VCP driver page (Not the D2xx one).

You just have to click the latest OS X link on that page, which is 2.2.18. Don't worry too much about the architectures, they are all the same file.

I had a similar problem after upgrading to 10.8, but just reinstalling didn't work, I had to manually remove the drivers, reboot and then reinstall the drivers.

So I did reinstall the drivers and still no USB port is recognized. So how do I remove the drivers now before reinstalling them again?

And how do I find the Port name afterwards, just in MacDive Preferences/Advanced/Scan?

Thanks!!

The FTDI website has uninstallation instructions. I have not heard of others having to do this, but it may help. You could also try repairing permissions on your Mac, as this is probably what uninstalling/reinstalling actually achieves.

You shouldn't need to scan unless it is picking the wrong thing - if it isn't finding anything, then likely once the driver is installed it will work.

Hi again,

so Now I see the USB port. It is detected as cu.usbserial-A4SHCQSJ and in the /dev folder I see:

cu.usbserial-A4SHCQSJ
tty.usbserial-A4SHCQSJ

But wenn I try to download the dives I still get the mesage:

Failed connecting to dive computer on serial port 'cu.usbserial-A4SHCQSJ' (Error Code: -6)

What can be the problem now? :(
Thanks!!

Use tty, not cu.
