From today I have problems downloading my dives (it works fine before). This could be a mechanical problem with my cable (but the computer shows "data transfer" or a software problem. I use:
- Suunto D6i
- Mac Dive 2.2.3
- OSX 10.8.4
- the message ist: Import error. Failed connecting to dive computer on serial port '/dev.tty.usbserial-STTR9CNK' (Error Code: -7)
What can I do? Thank you for some help

Re: error (code -7) downloading DIves from Suunto D6i

Do you have low battery?
Usually if it used to work fine and you start running in to issues like this, it's because your battery is low.

No, the battery is ok. So you think it could be a mechanical Problem with the Adapter?

It could be. You can use the official suunto software to see if a download works as expected.

the official software also has problems – I try to organize a new adapter and let you know if it works. Thank you for your help.

Re: error (code -7) downloading DIves from Suunto D6i
My D9 started showing errors like this at some point. It turns out the battery was not actually ok - it never gave me a low battery warning, but it died shortly afterwards. Turns out it was a dodgy battery, and once replaced with a good one, everything worked as expected.
My point being, if you had a battery replacement you won't necessarily get a low battery warning. So it could still potentially be the battery. I think the place I used to service it cheaped out that time around.

Re: error (code -7) downloading DIves from Suunto D6i
I could solve the problem (after changing the cable and trying it on different computers):
It is a hardware problem. The interface from the D6i can be turned around completely (360 degrees, I tryed it with another D6i computer) and it shows the message "data transfer". But only at one point (about 45 degrees) the pc can really import data. Other Suunto computers (D4i oder D9i) has as far as I know a limit so that you can not turn the interface around completely.
Thanks for you help, Holger

Re: error (code -7) downloading DIves from Suunto D6i
This sounds like the Oceanic OC1. I borrowed one off a friend and you had to have the red dot in the exact right place for it to work. Whereas my D9 locks into position and you don't have any choice about it, and it always "just works".
Could be that particular cable - but either way, good to know, and thanks for the update. Hopefully it helps someone else!
