unable to download from Puck

I have spent the last 3 hours reading boards, reviewing past problems but am still unable to download from my Puck to a MacBook Pro (2011).
This is the message I keep getting..... Failed connecting to dive computer on serial port '/dev/tty.SLAB_USBtoUART' (Error Code: -7)
Any suggestions??
I have already re-downloaded the driver, rebooted, still to no avail....
Did I mention I have a VERY limited ability with computers
Thanks

Is your Puck in PC Transfer mode? Is the connection ok, contacts not wet, not using a USB hub, etc? Do you have a low battery?
Have you read Troubleshooting Downloads in the help? Does it work with the official Mares software?

The adapter is green when attached but turns red when in PC mode. The Mares software won't load due to "not Windows compatible". USB is connected straight to laptop. Have read Download Troubleshooting without success.........

I don't understand what you are saying here. Are you saying that you downloaded in MacDive and it was fine ?

Seem to be having a similar problem with my puck. Although the light never goes red at all, i get the same error message.
Puck is in PC mode, contacts are clean and dry. Downloaded and (re)installed the driver. Tried the libdivecomputer frontend, gives me a log but no dump:

Better late than never: Just to complete this this thread, my problem turned out to be a broken contact inside the interface.
A little solder in the right place and it was working again.
