Hi

I just bought MacDive and i cannot find any compatible way to transfer all my dives from Diving Log 5 to MacDive. Is this possible?

I have tried exporting my dive log in every format the Diving Log 5 has available and when i import them into MacDive the fields are not correct or it dose not import at all. I have installed Dive Log Manager the free version at it seems to have no problems with several different exports from Diving Log 5 the best seems to be UDCF. I don't want to buy another program if it is possible to get MacDive to work?

What seems strange to me is you use SQL a data base yet you don't have the option to import SQL data bases?

Phil

Hi,

If you export UDCF or UDDF from Diving Log, you can drag/drop the files on to MacDive to import them no problem. If you think something is incorrect, please email support with a copy of the file and explain exactly what is wrong so I can take a look at it. I'm not aware of any current issues, though.

FYI, one SQL database is not the same as another. Things are a little more complex than that! MacDive does import some SQL databases, for instance Suunto DM4 ones.

Thanks for the amazingly quick reply...
I have emailed you the files.
The UDCF file when it imports;
Country & Location are left Unknown and Site has "Country,Location & Site" data.
Diver is the wrong person. ( Should Be Phil Gay )
Dive Computer Wrong
Start Air & End Air are Blank
Buddies Blank
Surface Interval Blank

The UDDF file when it imports;
Country Location & Site are left Unknown
Diver is the Unknown. ( Should Be Phil Gay )
Dive Computer Unknown
Start Air & End Air are Blank
Buddies Blank
Surface Interval Blank

When i import the same UDCF file with Dive Log Manager theses fields are correct.

Thanks

Phil

Ok. Strange. Most of those should work. Can you please email me the files? I'll need to investigate what is going wrong.

Amazing service from Nick and several emails and it was fixed within minutes....
The answer for me was to synch Diving Log 5 to an old iPhone and then synch the iPhone to Macdive and all the data transferred perfectly.

Thanks

Nick

Hi,
I have exactly the same issue, is there a way of simply imorting the exported SQL DB I tried the UDCF and UDDF formats which both had the same issue as the above poster and to export these I have to select each individual dive in Diving Log 5.

Thanks

Tony

You can export an sqlite database from Diving Log 5, and that can be dragged and dropped on to MacDive to read everything. From memory MacDive expects it to be named "something.db", I'm at work right now so I can't double-check but try that.

Diving Logs UDDF support is broken and in the past when I've contacted the author he has refused to make any helpful fixes to it, so using the database is a better way to go.
