Optimise Database does not work as expected

I am in process filling infos for my recently imported dives. During the process, I entered quite a few misspelled countries, Dive sites etc. which are messing up the dropdown-boxes.

My errors I have now all been cleaned up. So I pressed the "Optimise Database" button to get rid of all the unused data-junk. However, nothing happens. I still have all the misspelled dive sites, countries etc. listed in the respective drop down boxes....

Quitting and restarting MacDive does not help. Pressing "Optimise Database" again does not help either.

Any idea?

NB: Going to "Sites" and trying to delete manually by "Delete seelcted" doesnt do anything either :?

That's not what this is for.

You will need to delete the sites you don't want yourself. Go to sites and delete the incorrect ones.

ok, figured out this can be done only in viewing the location "cards" and not in list view.

NB: Talking about those location cards: Who is supposed to be able to read white letters on light grey background??? I'm not  Its a bit of a design goofy :ugeek:

thanks for looking into it

You can delete sites in list view. Select them and press Command + Delete, or choose Edit -> Delete Selected from the Menu.

We apologise for the poor UI.

Thank You

I tried "delete selected" and nothing happened. Will test again tomorrow. Thanks for the betalink. Will provide feedback tomorrow as well.

I'm sure the UI will get even more MacIsh over time ;)

Coming back on this delete dive sites in list view topic: I tried around some more. I can delete some sites by "Delete selected". On others, they will just sit there... Delete does not get rid of them.

Also I find it easier having the option to right-click on an item and then click delete (as you would expect from any Mac-software) rather than having to go thru the menu. But thats a minor point. First I need to get them deleted in the first place...

I tried again with the following workflow.

1.) Optimize Database
2.) Shut down Macdive
3.) Restart MacDive
4.) Delete unwanted Dive Spot

So, its done now. But surely the workflow should be somewhat easier?

You only have to do #4.

Don't click optimise database. It is having no effect whatsoever, it is nothing to do with this.

Well, as I said I could NOT get them deleted a few hours before. if it is not the optimize that did the trick, then may be the restart did the trick (even tough I also had done that before....).

Its odd. I' watch it. Maybe i can eventually figure out what happens.

Sorry to be a pest.
