Cannot recognize USB with FTD VCP in OS X Yosemite

I'm trying to get my MBP with OS X Yosemite 10.10.2 to recognize my Suunto D9 for use with Mac Dive. I installed the VCP Driver for Mac OS X v2.2.18 from
http://www.ftdichip.com/Drivers/VCP.htm. I do not see a successful install when I look in USB in my System Information.
Any suggestions?

You won't see much of interest.
Once you installed the driver, did you attempt a download? If so, what was the error message/problem?

MacDive does not see my Suunto. I tried Preferences>Advanced but no serial ports are listed even after clicking "Refresh".

Usually a reinstall + reboot resolves it. Sometimes it doesn't start up automatically. Try that.

I tried restarting, re-installing and restarting. No luck. MacDive & System Information do not show the serial port.
I installed the VCP Drivers v2.2.18 for Mac from ftdichip.com. Am I missing something? Seems pretty cut & dry so not sure what else needs to be done.

Nope, not missing anything.
Can you open your Console (Applications -> Utilities -> Console) and filter for "ftdi", without the quotes, and see if anything is in there?
Also try running:
sudo kextload /System/Library/Extensions/FTDIUSBSerialDriver.kext/
In a Terminal (you'll have to type your password in) and see if that helps. This is the command to manually start the driver.

No "ftdi" when filtering my console. Via a Terminal window I ran the sudo, checked my console and had 2 entries. I've attached a screen grab of them.
MacDive does not see the computer or serial port.
Any suggestions? I really appreciate the help!

After you have typed the kextload command (you can see in Console it said it allowed it to load) paste this:
ls /dev/tty.*
Making sure your D9 is plugged in.
This is pretty weird. I had a D9 for many years, it was always incredibly reliable to download, and the USB driver is also reliable. I don't recall having this much trouble installing it!
Does your cable/D9 work in the official Suunto software? Also worth noting that if DM4/5 are running, it will cause issues (like this, among others).

I pasted ls /dev/tty.* in the terminal window. Still no recognition of the D9 in MacDive.
I have no idea if it works with the official Suunto software. I picked it up off my buddy who upgraded. Should I test it with the DM4 software?

So what did terminal say when you pasted it ? You won't see "d9" or anything obvious. Could you please copy and paste the output of that command.
You are looking for /dev/tty.usbserial-ST000001.
