Only downloading 30 of 50 dives

Post by JimLeask »

I just downloaded my Genesis Reactpro computer for the first time. It brought in 30 dives, but there are 50 dives on the computer. I manually verified that the extra dives are on the computer, but they don't come in as part of the download. These old dives are part of a trip and I'd really like to capture them if I can.

Any idea why all of the dives on the computer wouldn't be coming in? (I'm a new user to MacDive, and I like it so far.)

Thanks...

Jim

Haji,

Most likely your device is full. This is covered in Frequently Asked Questions in the help. Specifically, the "But MacDive is wrong..." section applies to your model of dive computer:

Thanks - that is likely what the problem was. I didn't realize that the computer tracked the basic dive information separately from the detailed info. Now that I have MacDive I'll be able to download much more frequently and won't have this problem. I'm just lucky that I captured the dives I cared about from Iceland.

However, if the basic information is available, can't at least that part be downloaded. Having the dive date and basic information that is on the dive computer, even if the profile is missing, is better than nothing.

It's a quirk of those particular devices. It causes a lot of confusion.

Technically speaking, yes. Realistically this would be a very large amount of work to implement, take a lot of time, more than likely introduce a number of bugs for existing users and in the end, only a small handful of users would actually benefit from it.

Even then, I would get queries asking why there was no profile available for some of the dives, so it wouldn't even reduce the support cost after investing a ton of time in it, just shift the problem elsewhere.

Apologies for the inconvenience - I appreciate it's probably quite annoying to add those dives, but it really is a one-off cost and the upside is that I have time to do things like write entire iPhone versions of MacDive and add brand new features like cloud syncing to free updates for everyone.
