As of MacDive 2.0.3, you can now disable a piece of gear. In the screenshot below, the computer is disabled, and you will see a small lock in the bottom right of the gear item. Disabling a piece of gear allows you to filter out disabled items. For example, if you use rental gear or you sell a piece of equipment, you can then disable it so that it doesn't clutter up your list while you are trying to add gear to a dive.

Creating Gear

To create a new piece of gear, select the "New Piece Of Gear" from the action menu in the toolbar. You will be taken to the gear screen, where you can double click on the new piece of gear to edit it.

Deleting Gear

When you hover over a piece of gear, you will see an "X" icon pop up in the top right corner. Click this to delete a piece of gear. To undo deleting a piece of gear, press Command + Z, or select Edit -> Undo from the main menu.

Gear Groups

MacDive 2 lets you create groups of gear. You can easily add these groups, or have them get automatically added, to new dives. To create a group, select "New Gear Group" from the action menu. Now, you can simply drag and drop pieces of gear onto the group. If you would like to edit the group to rename it or remove gear, double click on it.

Adding Images

To add an image to a piece of gear, double click on it to open the edit window. Then drag any image onto the Image View.

Special Types Of Gear

If you change the type of a piece of gear to "Tank", you will get two new options - Tank Size and Working Pressure. These are used when calculating your Surface Air Consumption rate. Note - Working Pressure will only be enabled if you have your units set to Imperial.

Automatically Adding Gear To Dives

You can check the "Automatically add this item to dives" option, and the item (or items in a group) will be automatically added. There is one extra case - if MacDive downloads from a dive computer, the piece of gear representing that computer will automatically be added to the dive.

Disabling Gear

As of MacDive 2.0.3, you can now disable a piece of gear. In the screenshot below, the computer is disabled, and you will see a small lock in the bottom right of the gear item. Disabling a piece of gear allows you to filter out disabled items. For example, if you use rental gear or you sell a piece of equipment, you can then disable it so that it doesn't clutter up your list while you are trying to add gear to a dive.
