If you are getting the message "MacDive failed to update its database. Usually this means you were using an incompatible data version. Please contact support." then there is an easy way to fix this problem. Follow these steps:

1. Locate and delete this file:

/Users/your username/Library/Application Support/MacDive/MacDive.sqlite

2. Restart!

Typically this issue occurs if you have installed an earlier version of MacDive on Leopard, but not saved any data (dives, sites, gear etc). This problem, caused by an Apple framework, was resolved in Snow Leopard, and versions of MacDive from 2.0.5 onwards provide a fix for this on Leopard.

As of Lion, your Library folder is hidden. See How do I backup my data or transfer it to another computer? for instructions on how to find it.
