Dive Computer Data Limitations
Some models store more information than others, even between manufacturers. For example, some air integrated Suunto models store pressure data constantly, every time a depth sample is taken. Others only store the beginning and ending pressure, not readings at the samples in between.
This page has been created to address some common queries and will be expanded over time.
Contents
Air Temperature
Some devices do not store the air temperature. In this case, MacDive will default to 0c/32f. They are (but not necessarily limited to):
- Atomic Aquatics Cobalt
- All Aeris Devices
- All Oceanic Devices
- All Tusa Devices
Pressure Data
Some air integrated models store pressure readings every sample, while some only store the beginning and ending pressure. The following models fall under this category:
- Suunto Cobra
- Suunto Vytec DS
You will see the beginning and ending pressure, but you will not see the per-sample SAC/Air graphs.
But Suunto Dive Manager shows the air pressure!
SDM simply interpolates this data based on the start/end pressure - it is not real data. MacDive chooses not to do this, so you won't see it.
Temperature Data
Some models of dive computer store the start and end temperature, but do not store the temperature per sample. This means you will not get a temperature graph displayed. The following models fall in to this category:
- Mares Nemo
- Mares Nemo Air
- Mares Nemo Excel
- Mares Nemo Wide
- Mares Puck
- Mares Puck Air
- Suunto Cobra
- Suunto D3
- Suunto Gekko
- Suunto Mosquito
- Suunto Stinger
- Suunto Vyper
- Suunto ZOOP
