As of version 2.2.6, the method of downloading from a Shearwater Petrel has changed slightly. This was done to enable downloading more of the memory, and to do it much faster.

You only need to follow these instructions once, and then you can download easily whenever you need to. These instructions are specific to OS X 10.9 Mavericks, but they are similar on previous versions of OS X.

Pairing on OS X 10.8 (Mountain Lion)

1. Enable Bluetooth on your Petrel by choosing Dive Log -> Upload Log.

1. Choose the Bluetooth icon in the top right of your Mac's menu bar.

2. Select "Set Up Bluetooth Device..."

3. You will see your Petrel appear in the devices window. Select it and click Continue. This will automatically complete.

Pairing on OS X 10.9 (Mavericks)

1. Enable Bluetooth on your Petrel by choosing Dive Log -> Upload Log.

2. Choose the Bluetooth icon in the top right of your Mac's menu bar.

3. Select "Open bluetooth Preferences..."

4. You will see the Petrel appear in the bluetooth window - simply click "Pair" and you are done!
